Nature of problem:
Any spatial or temporal data set with sharp jump discontinuities may be interpolated by this subroutine JMPDIS. The data set can have a finite number of discontinuities (less than 10 in this case) or no discontinuity at all.

Solution method:
All interpolation calculations for data sets with jump discontinuities are done using cubic Hermite polynomial basis function. Smooth data sets will be interpolated by cubic spline method when the number of discontinuities is 10 but this can also be changed.

Running time:
0.9 CPU for the test run.
