Nature of problem:
This program reads in the finite element matrices in integer form and punches out a complete block data subprogram containing these matrices in Z-format. The latter is an IBM Fortran IV G feature which is convenient for compressing vast amount of numerical data. Users of theAXISYMM-SCALAR-HELMHOLTZ-FINTEL 4 AND AXISYMM-SCALAR-HELM- HOLTZ-FINTEL 6 finite element programs (CPC catalogue numbers ACSB and ACSC) who are using computers other than the IBM 360 or 370 series, will have to modify GENERATE in order to produce block data compatible with their FORTRAN IV compiler. Specifically, this involves only the modification of the output format statements in GENERATE. All the necessary instructions to run GENERATE as it is are contained in the program listing. The test run output is the BLOCK DATA segemnts incorporated in AXISYMM-SCALAR-HELMHOLTZ-FINTEL 4 and AXISYMM-SCHALAR- HELMHOLTZ-FINTEL 6.

Running time:
On the IBM 360/75 computer it takes less than 30 s to run GENERATE.
