Nature of problem:
LMD calculates the singly differential cross sections of the longitudinal momentum distributions of the ejected electron and recoil-ion in single ionization of helium by either light or heavy-ion impact.

Solution method:
LMD allows the user to calculate the longitudinal momentum distributions using either the continuum-distorted-wave (CDW) model [1] or the continuum-distorted-wave eikonal-initial-state (CDW-EIS) model [2] using a wave treatment.

Restrictions:
Both the CDW and CDW-EIS models are two-state perturbative approximations.

Running time:
This typically depends on input data. However to obtain an accurate (three significant figures) singly differential cross section for the longitudinal momentum distributions takes about one minute on the DEC 2000-500.
