Nature of problem:
A program is provided, by means of which a model structure of the "two dimensional soap froth" type may be equilibrated, allowed to evolve and coarsen, due to intercellular diffusion, or subjected to strain in order to calculate mechanical properties. It has been used to obtain insight into evolution and elastic/plastic properties and should be adaptable to further applications in the developing science of foams and froths.

Solution method:
Iterative solution, using linearisation of the equations representing equilibration conditions and constraints, with some numerical different- iation for convenience. The variables which are associated with each vertex of the network (vertex coordinates, cell pressures) are relaxed in turn.

Running time:
Including compilation and linking, the test case requires 61 minutes of CPU time.
