Manuscript Title: CARLA: a code to calculate the population of high spin states through compound nucleus reactions.
Authors: C. Savelli, M. Morando
Program title: CARLA
Catalogue identifier: ABGQ_v1_0
Distribution format: gz
Journal reference: Comput. Phys. Commun. 15(1978)283
Programming language: Fortran.
Computer: CDC 6600.
Operating system: SCOPE 3.4.4.
RAM: 25K words
Word size: 60
Peripherals: magnetic tape, disc.
Keywords: Nuclear physics, Hauser-feshbach, High spin state, Reaction, Level density, Compound nucleus, Yrast level, Spectroscopy, Level scheme.
Classification: 17.10, 17.15.

Nature of problem:
Calculation of the direct population of high spin state in the frame of statistical model.

Solution method:
The absolute cross section was calculated evaluating the integrals with the first order Gauss-Legendre method.

Restrictions:
Emission of a maximum of 3 particles of the type n,p,alpha (the formula used is repetitive, but for more than 3 particles the calculation increases greatly). The population of 10 levels by seven different beam energies may be obtained at one time.

Unusual features:
The program calculates the direct population of level.

Running time:
This time is strongly dependent on the required calculations.
