Nature of problem:
The inelastic interaction of a high energy hadron with a nucleon at rest is sampled via the excitation of hadronic resonances and their subsequent decay. The model uses the most important resonance excitation cross sections and the resonance decay model. The energy, the momenta and additive quantum numbers are conserved in the model.

Solution method:
The Monte Carlo simulation of events is done using tabulated interaction cross sections and empirical formulae. The reasonance decay is described by the Monte Carlo code DECAY.

Restrictions:
For all hadron nucleon reactions are the reaction channels are taken into account only, if they contribute more than about 1 or 2% to the total reaction cross section. The allowed primary hadrons are pions, kaons, nucleons and their antiparticles, secondary particles may be hyperons and antihyperons additionally. The primary hadrons may have laboratory energies up to about 5 GeV.

Running time:
HADRIN simulates one inelastic hadron nucleon interaction in about 10ms central processor time on an ESER 1040 computer and in 0.4 ms on an IBM 3081 computer, dependent on the primary energy and the demanded decay level of particles and reasonances.
